Harhan offers consulting and support services in all areas that fall under our expertise. We offer personalized support and customization services for all of our free software, as well as consulting in the following areas not directly related to our own hardware and software offerings:

Embedded Linux on PowerPC processors

Harhan has quite extensive experience doing PowerPC board bring-ups for various customers. We've worked with different kinds of PowerPC processors (7xx, 74xx, 82xx, 8xx, 405, 44x, 46x) and different Linux kernels, both 2.4 and 2.6 series, both standard ones from kernel.org and ones modified by other vendors like MontaVista and DENX. We've even done a PowerPC CPU bring-up for a customer who was doing their own ASIC development using PPC4xx CPU and peripheral cores, and that project involved a lot of poking at core buses like PLB and OPB which are normally totally hidden inside a finished chip.

Our embedded Linux consulting services include:

• Interaction with hardware engineers, including feedback on possible improvements for ease of bring-up or better performance
• Initial board bring-up (oscilloscope and logic analyser to the rescue!)
• Bootloader development or adaptation
• Kernel selection, porting and bring-up
• Root file system population and bring-up (NFS, ramfs, disk, NOR or NAND flash)
• Device driver development, porting and support
• Ongoing system and application support

OSless embedded systems

Not every application needs an operating system. Some embedded applications are better off running OSless on the bare metal. We have developed and supported such systems for our own use as well as for prior customers, and we can do it again if need arises. We have extensive experience with using the GNU C Compiler and GNU Binutils to build OSless embedded applications, and we have made contributions to GNU Binutils development in the past.

Our board support for OSless embedded systems typically includes a processor-level debug monitor, some boot mechanism and sometimes a hardware abstraction layer library.

Telecom and Wide Area Networks

Harhan has extensive experience with traditional telecom/WAN technologies like DDS, ISDN, T1, Frame Relay, ATM and xDSL. We are very familiar with equipment such as DSLAMs, old-fashioned WAN routers, CSUs and DSUs, and we offer consulting services on just about anything related to these technologies, especially anything that involves reverse engineering or retrofitting.
